Joseph Pergolizzi, Jr., MD

Joseph Pergolizzi, Jr., MD is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and a senior partner in the Naples Anesthesia and Physician Associates Group, of South West Florida. Dr. Pergolizzi has over 100 scientific papers and projects either presented or published. He is an internationally recognized expert in many areas of advanced medicine including Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, Clinical Research and Drug Discovery. He is a regularly sought after and requested lecturer at the majority of major medical schools, health systems, and National Medical Symposiums throughout the United States and Europe. Dr. Pergolizzi is the Editor-in-Chief of the Clinical Researcher, Editor for The International Journal of Pain Medicine and Palliative Care, Editor for The Scientific World Journal of Anesthesia and an invited feature editor for Pain Medicine. Recent publications include a paper on the use of Spinal Decompression for lower back symptoms.

Dr. Pergolizzi is a faculty member of The Primary Care Institute’s educational initiative, and is Adjunct Faculty at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where he routinely lectures on various topics related to advanced medical treatment. Dr. Pergolizzi has been awarded the American Medical Association Physician Recognition Award with Commendation and is a member of the Who’s Who for International Executives. He has served as a member of various medical and scientific societies and acted on a number of institutional committees including the Medical Errors Committee and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Dr. Pergolizzi is recognized by his peers as a Scientific and Medical expert that integrates new technologies into everyday clinical practice. He currently holds medical privileges at Physicians Day Surgery in Naples Florida. Dr. Pergolizzi has been investigating the effectiveness and utility of the DRX9000™ in patients suffering from chronic lower back symptoms for the past two years.

Dr. Pergolizzi holds a BS in Physical Chemistry from St. Johns University and an MD with highest honors from Ross University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Anesthesia at Georgetown University School of Medicine and a clinical research fellowship in the Department of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
